Graphics Department
At Pre-Construct Archaeology we have a flexible, efficient and innovative graphics department and are able to provide most kinds of graphics work, from drawings to accompany the shortest report, to glossy publications and display material. We use AutoCAD for all types of mapping, technical drawing and general illustration, GIS (ArcView) for spatial and chronological analysis, and Illustrator for publication drawings. All our CAD staff have a background in field archaeology and are therefore capable of ‘interrogating’ and interpreting material provided before committing it to paper.
Our illustrators are all experienced archaeologists or draughts people, and use both manual and digital illustration techniques. Artistic reconstructions based on excavated evidence are also part of the service we can provide.
Photography
Photographic images are a valuable part of the excavation recording system, post-excavation reports and publications. Our professional photographer records images of every aspect of the archaeological process including fieldwork and post-excavation analysis utilising 35mm, medium and large format cameras. Digital cameras are also an important part of the photographic method incorporating digital manipulation when appropriate. Working in both studio and fieldwork environments we are able to provide a range of services including rectified photography and photogrammetry, as well as the accurate recording of minute details using macro photography.
