London clay was observed at the base of all 50 trenches between 35m OD and 32.50m OD. The London clay was sealed by a mix of loam and clay topsoil.
Archaeological features were recorded in three trenches in the north of the site and in two trenches towards the south east corner. No archaeological features were recorded in the remaining 45 trenches.
Worked flint of a possible Bronze age was recovered from the soil horizon of the three trenches in the north. The partial excavation of a number of linear features in these trenches also revealed Bronze age flint as well as pottery finds of a late Iron Age date. The later date of the pottery suggests that the lithic finds were residual. A number of rather more amorphous features were recorded in the two trenches to the south east. These relatively shallow features meandered across the surface of the London Clay with no obvious form or direction. Partial excavation of the features failed to produce any dateable finds. Topsoil and grass covered the whole of the site to an average depth of between 350mm and 500mm. A small number of finds, mainly Post-Medieval ceramic building material, was recovered from the topsoil.
