A total of 12 test pits and 8 observation pits and an archaeological trench were investigated.
Natural terrace gravel was recorded at-1.00m OD. This was overlain by silty clay and then peaty silt. Dumps of 18th-19th century rubbish were recorded on the NE and E of the site. Late 19th and 20th century foundations to gasometers and building foundations were present on the site.
