Silty peat was recorded at -0.86m OD which in turn was sealed by an alluvial silty clay with a highest level of 1.23m OD. A possible deposition of late Post-Medieval cess was recorded from the middle to the western end of the trench. An extremely compacted deposit of flints, gypsum, quartz and light greyish brown sand with black flecks was recorded sealing the cess deposit and is likely to represent a foundation layer of a nineteenth or twentieth century structure.
