The recorded sequence comprised redeposited sand and brick rubble overlying the natural sub-stratum. The natural sub-stratum was exposed throughout the trench at a depth of 1.50m below present ground level. The natural comprised red clay sand and this was excavated to a depth of around 3m below present ground level.
