Easington C of E Primary School, Easington, County Durham

An archaeological evaluation was conducted at the school, as a planning condition in advance of a proposed extension. The work was commissioned by the Environmental and Technical Services Department, Durham County Council, and co-ordinated by dewjo'c Architects. A single trench was excavated, revealing a possible post-medieval drainage feature. A substantial developed soil was encountered across the entire area investigated. This did not provide any dating evidence. A modern levelling dump and a field drain were the only other sub-surface evidence of human activity.
