The Morganite Site, Point Pleasant, SW18
TQ 2525 7515; (Jim Leary); watching brief; 9 March - 10 March 2004; Laing Homes; MPP04

The Watching Brief was undertaken during the excavation of eleven geotechnical test pits. Natural terrace gravels were only recorded in two of the test pits at 3.00m OD.

The natural gravels were overlain by a natural sandy layer, which was partially sealed by alluvial deposits dating from the 17th century to the 19th century. In the northeastern part of the site the probable edge of an ancient water channel cut through the sand. A timber stake was recorded along its edge and may represent revetting of the channel whilst a single flint waste flake was recovered from the sand.
