NZ 156 348; Alan Telford; archaeological investigations; 23rd October - 12th November 2003; TRC 03
Archaeological investigations were conducted on this site, as a planning condition for a proposed housing development. The work was commissioned by Broseley Homes Ltd. A geophysical survey and ten trenches revealed evidence of post-medieval coal mining on the site, including a waggonway, a drift mine adit, a tramway and sinkholes. Archaeological evidence of activity unrelated to mining was restricted to a linear feature of possible ancient date, and a feature possibly associated with ridge and furrow ploughing.
