An archaeological monitoring and recording exercise was commissioned by Haslam Homes as part of a planning application for a housing development. The work was necessary due to the archaeological potential, particularly for prehistoric remains, of the area around Shadforth village. Groundworks associated with the construction of six new homes were monitored. No features or deposits of archaeological significance were encountered during the investigations. This may be due to recent disturbance over a large area of the development. Pre-fabricated houses were erected on the site in the 1960's and 1970's and demolished in the 1980's.
