Natural and gravelly clays were recorded between 0.85m and 1.65m OD.
The excavation of foundation trenches for a valet and car wash revealed various Roman and post-medieval features. The Roman features were recorded between the west and the centre of the site and comprised four ditches, running north-south and perpendicular to the Old Kent Road, and two pits. A layer of silty sand sealed the Roman features and the natural deposits and was in turn overlain by 18th/19th-century ploughsoil. To the east the ploughsoil was cut by a 19th-century well and in the southwest a 19th-century cesspit and a pit, containing a wooden barrel, were recorded. To the north a series of 19th-century features included a pipe trench sealed by a brick floor surface and, to the north of the floor, a basement.
