Natural chalk was recorded between 73.20m and 73.53m OD.
A single, continuous trench was excavated across the footprints of the proposed structures and revealed a layer of naturally accumulated subsoil, sealed by topsoil, overlying the natural chalk. No evidence of archaeological features were observed although prehistoric activity in the area was suggested by the presence of struck and burnt flint, together with a sherd of possible late-prehistoric pottery, found residually in the topsoil and subsoil with later material.
