A layer of naturally accumulated sandy silt subsoil, in turn sealed
by topsoil, overlay natural chalk. On the E side of the site a N-S
orientated natural channel cut into the chalk. Although fragments
of struck and burnt flint were recovered both from the subsoil and
the topsoil no anthropological features were observed.
