Following earlier archaeological evaluation and excavation, a watching
brief was undertaken. The site is situated on the eastern side of
Gillingham, on a hill overlooking the southern bank of the Medway
River.
The work was necessitated by the construction of a new sewer across
the site with an associated pumping station on the northern edge
of the site. No archaeological features were observed, with only
natural or modern deposits and features encountered.
Natural strata were recorded between 9.52m OD and 14.16m OD
