Mark Hinman, PCA’s CEO, will be speaking at the Histon & Impington Archaeology Group’s November lecture about the remarkable Norfolk Carnyx Hoard.

Discovered during an archaeological excavation by PCA, the hoard includes a near-complete Iron Age carnyx, parts of a second instrument, a bronze boar’s head from a military standard and five shield bosses.

One of only three carnyces known from Britain, the Norfolk example is the most complete yet found in Europe. The discovery offers a rare insight into Iron Age warfare and the objects used by communities across Europe.
